Bitter and Sour Vol. 1: Nox Coffee, Jogjakarta

Welcome to Nox Coffee!

Hi there!

Welcome to new section on Biblical Journal, Bitter and Sour. My intention to make this section is to make a review of some coffee shops. The reason behind is because I love coffee that much. No-morning-person like me need a daily dose of hot black coffee (in moderation, I can add some creamer, though) to be awake. Plus, the activity of sipping a cup of coffee is way more appreciated now. It's proven by the fact that new coffee shops are sporadic, nationwide I should say. In Jakarta, it's been a trend! I even overheard a statement that says coffee can be a tool to socialize. Cool, eh?

Last month, I had a chance to visit Jogjakarta for a short holiday. And, coffee shops are of course in my itinerary. I heard so many new coffee shops in Jogja, and finally this chance came that I can see them. One of the coffee shops that was suggested by a friend is Nox Coffee. The coffee shop is located at Jl. Kaliurang No. 53. It's easy to reach. Well in Jogja everything becomes reachable. lol.

My first impression of Nox Coffee was its homey feeling. It looks so luxurious (it rhymes!), but it's warm enough to sip a coffee. Oh, it doesn't feel like so snob. I hate snob coffee shop, if you know what I mean.

The Real Coffee, Served Professionally.

Okay, they serve various kind of coffee, like I mean it. I sip a cup of latte first, and I look around the menu and quite flabbergasted by its local coffee, like so many I'm serious. And manual brew! I was afraid that I just found the perfect place, and I don't want to explore more places. Hahaha,

They serve good quality coffee. I'm a beginner, so I don't know if my 'good' standard matches your standard or not but I should say it's good. I think it's because the owner and its crews know a lot about coffee. I was accompanied by its PR, @thebolski. She is a good PR, a PR who knows coffee, and good to talk to.

The second cup, I ordered a black local coffee (I forgot but I guess it was Sumatra Mandheling), requested it to be made in syphon. They nailed it. The coffee was a bit burning but it didn't lose its bitter and sour sensation. I still can get the aftertaste. For the coffee, I give them 8 out of 10.

THE Owl Cake: Perfect Comfort Food

My friend @ndigun told me about their sensational owl cake. Why sensational? They only serve like 6 pieces per day! So you will compete to get this. And guess what, I was lucky enough to try this cutest cake. The cake is too cute that I don't even want to touch it.

The owl cake is basically a chocolate cake made in owl shape. I love the cake, the sweetness is not too overrated. A real comfort food (and a mood booster) that you can enjoy. It's BIG, enough to feed 2-3 or even 4 persons. For a foodie like me, you gotta believe it.

The most wanted cake, THE Owl Cake!

Believe me, you don't want to ruin this cutie's life :(

Overall, I just love NOX Coffee Boutique. The place looks good and fashionable, the coffee tastes like a real coffee, and the desserts taste like heaven. I must say the hospitality got 9.5 out of 10 from me. They are really nice and professional. Go try it yourself!

With the baristas, plus @ndigun and @thebolski
